I'm here!!!

Hello everyone!

I arrived in London yesterday, and here are some observations on life so far:

1) Running to a plane is embarrassing. You just feel like everyone is staring at you thinking:

"Now, does she really need to run to catch a plane, or is she just being dramatic with her bags swinging everywhere."
"Hum, she looks like she's in a hurry. Oh, look, she's walking now. Wait, there she goes running again. Oh....nope...back to walking. Either she can't make up her mind or she's out of shape."

I landed in Atlanta at 9:50 at gate A2 with a scheduled departure at 10:10 at gate E5; you do the math. Needless to say I was a bit sweaty as the last one on the plane. Good thing it was all worth it and we didn't spend, say 45 minutes sitting at the gate with the doors closed ;)

2) It's been confirmed that all the movies on planes headed eastbound are terrible. This experience was the kicker. Why is it that westbound flights get "Quantum of Solace" and I get "Hotel for Dogs"???

3) I live with a 60 year old British man, Chris. All you single ladies in your 20s, you know you're jealous...

4) I had 'LA Pizza' for dinner last night. Yes, LA as in LA Dodgers. It wasn't too bad, considering it was really a kabob place with Indian workers.

5) It's a solid 20 minute walk to the nearest store/tube stop. Sadly enough, I think I got some blisters after my 2 hour self-guided tour of the neighborhood which in my head was sounding like this "and to your right is a small shop that sells, a small assortment of random stuff. And to your left is a small shop that sells...looks like a small assortment of random stuff."

6) I made it with only two suitcases! (And I ended up shipping two boxes if you must know. Don't judge. Two years is a long time and I swear I "need" all of that stuff.)

That's it for now.

  3. Maybe you should get some of those shoes that have the wheels on them. Marissa is always asking me to get her a pair. Maybe that would help you get to the tube quicker. :)

  8. Hotel for Dogs! I love that movie. Wasn't it hilarious? I mean what a great idea. You take a hotel, but instead of for humans, you make it for dogs. And that came free with the flight? What a deal!

Glad you made it safely sis! Love ya. Katie

  9. Jim commandeered the computer for that last comment. He's just been looking for an outlet to rave about that movie, but he's embarrassed to admit how much he loves it. I guess he watched it 9 times last week between here and Amsterdam and back. Weird.

Anyway, I'm glad you made it safely. Cheers. :)
